We suffered a first league defeat of the season as we failed to score for the first time this season, writes James Barrett-Sterling.
Team news
Mekhail McLaughlin and Antone Douglas came into the defence, while Ola Sogbanmu returned to the centre of our midfield.
Despite bossing the early possession, we struggled to work Charlie Horlock in the home goal and Hastings took a shock lead on 18 minutes as Sam Beale got played in one-on-one and slotted the ball beyond Billy Bishop.
Mickel Miller had our two best opportunities of the first-half but firstly Horlock denied him, then Tom Vickers threw himself at his second attempt after United had taken the lead.
Bishop was equal to a shot by Sam Adams not long after the break, but Bobby Price should've hit the target with an angled drive before the hour.
United perhaps should've been reduced to 10 men after Kenny Pogue, who had already been booked, scythed down one of our boys from behind - the forward was immediately substituted by the home side after the referee simply gave him a talking to.
In-form striker Raheem Sterling-Parker managed to get through on goal shortly afterwards but, as our man attempted to round the keeper, Horlock did enough to deny him.
But we couldn't break through and United gave themselves some daylight as sub Davide Rodari threaded a shot from distance in beyond Bishop.
