Match report - East Grinstead Town (h)

We completed our season by recording a league double over East Grinstead and finishing a creditable sixth in the Ryman South, writes James Barrett.

Team news: Mickel Miller came back in, while long-term absentees Sean O'Toole and Brendan Murphy-McVey were surprise inclusions on the bench.

Panton opened the scoring on Saturday
We started this one on top but we were nearly made to pay for not beating Beeney in the Wasps goal when Marcus Elliott fired a shot past Joe Tupper but fortunately the ball smacked against the crossbar.

Tupper began the move which led to our opening goal on 18 minutes as he bowled out the ball for Ricardo Panton to advance down the left. The defender played a neat give-and-go with Miller before shooting past Beeney for his second of the season.

We stayed on top for the rest of the half but Beeney was equal to efforts from Tommy Bradford and Bobby Price, so we went into the break just one goal to the good.

HALF-TIME: 1 - 0

We managed to double our lead on the hour as Ricky Korboa tees up Miller and he bagged his 19th of a productive season.

But we failed to keep a clean sheet for the fifteenth straight game as Dan Hogan reduced the arrears with 20 minutes to go.

O'Toole: back with a bang
Much to the delight of the fans, Murphy-McVey and O'Toole were given the chance to stretch their legs during the final 15 minutes, while Bradford had a goal disallowed.

But it was O'Toole that sealed our victory with a goal on 88 minutes - his second of an injury-ravaged season.

So we finished sixth in the league and missed out on a play-off place by just two points.
