Match report - Dulwich Hamlet (h - friendly)

We finished a tough pre-season schedule against an strong visiting Dulwich Hamlet, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

Team news: Alex Kozakis was brought back in between the sticks, while Mickel Miller, Brendan Murphy-McVey and Mekhail McLaughlin all started.

We tried to exploit the pace of Michael Campbell and Miller during the opening exchanges, but we fell behind in the fourth minute as Boakye-Yiabon deftly finished past Kozakis from around 12 yards.

We settled after that blow however and enjoyed a lot of possession, but our searching balls, despite the hard work of Campbell up top, were being dealt with by a strong visiting defence.

Danny Dudley went on a sortie on 22 minutes, crossing the halfway line before winning a free kick 20 yards from goal as he was fouled trying to play Miller in on goal.

Tommy Bradford stepped up but his shot was deflected over by the jumping wall.

Last season's top scorer was involved again on 27 minutes and Campbell did excellently under pressure to prod Bradford's pass out to the unmarked Ricardo Panton, who in turn got Murphy-McVey into the box but his cross was turned away.

The visitors eventually broke from that and Clunis drove a flat cross other got over Kozakis, but Panton was back to chest the ball away from the lurking Boakye-Yiabon.

But, as the skies opened, Hamlet won a corner which we initially dealt with. The ball was whipped back in and, as Kozakis and Chambers clashed contesting it, Demaka volleyed the dropping ball back into the net.

Again, we tried to respond, as we did when Sogbanmu strode over halfway on 40 minutes, but we just failed to make it count - the midfielder too late with his pass as Campbell's found space was closed down by an opponent.

And our returning striker took aim from 18 yards three minutes later but his shot was deflected for a corner which Jordan Cheadle headed over at the back post.

HALF-TIME: 0 - 2

We almost reduced the arrears in spectacularly bizarre fashion just after the break. Miller displayed a neat touch and turn of pace to get away from Taylor and, after driving in a firm cross, he watched Chambers firmly volley it in target - it would've been a fantastic own goal had the stunned Edwards not managed to parry it away.

McLaughlin then got forward from left back and the ball, via Bradford, was teed up for Murphy-McVey but the young midfielder saw his low shot fly just the wrong side of the far post.

But the visitors stemmed our bright start as Tomlin scored a 20 yard free kick that took a deflection on its way through to deceive Kozakis.

Our heads didn't drop however and we grabbed a goal on 56 minutes - Miller showed great strength to bustle past his marker before taking a touch and burying a left-footed shot back beyond Edwards.

Both sides began to make a raft of substitutions but Hamlet didn't rest on their laurels as Demaka, after getting past sub Tony Sinclair,  smashed home his second on 73 minutes from a tight angle.

We kept plugging away and sub Raheem Sterling-Parker weaved his way into the Hamlet box before seeing his square pass turned onto the near post by an opponent, while Cheadle rattled Edwards' far post with a neatly struck free kick on 87 minutes.

But we conceded a fifth as the game went into added time as Muhammadu-Faal got in one-on-one with sub keeper David Trivino and he coolly slotted home.
