The club would like to go on record after receiving sad news about one of its most loyal supporters:
“Following yesterday’s news of the sad passing of club stalwart Roger Rolfe, we would like to put on record the huge contribution he made to the club over a considerable period of time.
“Most will recall
Roger running both the original and current club and programme shop. This he
did with his long-term partner Jackie whom he first met at Colston Avenue. They
became, for season after season, a ‘fixture’ at Robins games both home and
away. It would be a rare thing for them to miss a match.
“Roger was
also a committee member and vice chairman of the original supporters
club, plus he contributed to two major publications about the club - The 100
Years History and 20 Premier Seasons
with Carshalton Athletic.
“He had an
encyclopedic knowledge of football facts and trivia and kept a record of every
Carshalton line-up from the matches he attended. He also had an extensive collection
of football memorabilia.
“He was the ‘go
to guy’ when it came to traveling to away games, particularly in the days
before Sat Navs. His knowledge of the public transport system was second-to-none
and there wasn't a ground the Robins would visit that Roger didn't know
the way to!
“Rest In
Peace Roger - you will be sorely missed by us all.”
