There was nothing statuesque about our impressive win over promotion rivals Greenwich Borough on Saturday - unless the first goal celebration is taken into account, writes James Barrett.
We won 2-0 at Middle Park Avenue thanks to goals by captain Bobby Price and Josh Phillips, with the former's saluted by some players going on to perform a 'Mannequin Challenge' in front of our dug out.
Kozakis has played in every game so far this season. |
"I think this was one of our biggest results, and better performances, of the season so far," said goalkeeper Alex Kozakis. "They were difficult to break down but we dominated from start to finish and the goals came after half-time.
"I think this is our first win against a side in the top three this season, despite putting in some good performances, and I think it shows both ourselves and other clubs that we can compete at the top."
The clean sheet against Greenwich was only our third in 15 matches but Kozakis believes his working relationship with Jahmahl King and Kalvin Morath-Gibbs is improving all the time.
"Jahmahl is a commanding presence, Kalvin is a good communicator and they are both decent in the air," he elaborated.
"It hasn't always been easy but we strive to be organised at all times and we showed on Saturday what we are capable of, and I include the full backs in that too."
Kozakis wasn't a part of the celebration which was sparked by Price's goal (which can be viewed here) but he did reveal who was behind it.
"I didn't think it would happen so I began focussing on the restart before I realised!" he smiled.
"The boys had been talking about it before the game - I seem to remember Kingsley Aikhionbare being the main instigator. It just shows the team spirit within this squad however, we are like brothers to each other."
Our game against Faversham Town kicks-off at 7.45pm on Monday 14th November.
