Interview - Danny Dudley

We extended our current unbeaten run to eight games after taking four points from the first two of a tricky run-up to Christmas, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

After coming from behind to beat Walton Casuals 2-1 last Monday, we hosted fourth-placed Cray Wanderers on Saturday and again turned a half-time deficit round to this time draw 1-1.

That game had three of the Bostik South's top goalscorers on display, including Michael Power whom put Cray ahead from the spot in first-half added time, but our equaliser didn't come via a Mickel Miller or Raheem Sterling-Parker this time.

"It wasn't the prettiest but its about time I got one," smiled defender Danny Dudley whom headed us level with his first of the season on 51 minutes.

"It's great to keep the unbeaten run going and I felt we restricted Cray to only two real chances, both of which were penalties (the other was awarded at 0-0 but Alex Kozakis saved Power's low effort).

"We’ve worked hard on tightening up a few things recently and it’s obviously been paying off, plus the fans’ support has been immense recently. Everyone is buzzing”

That point not only kept us above Cray but also hot on the heels of league leaders Lewes whom visit Colston Avenue this coming Monday.

Ahead of that humdinger however is a tricky tie away to Molesey on Friday night and Dudley isn’t taking anything for granted.

“Molesey is never an easy place to go, they fight hard and the pitch isn’t always the best but we feel we can beat anyone at the moment,” he said.

“Lewes will also be tough but they dropped points on Saturday too which is encouraging. They’ve done superb so far this season but there’s still a long way to and we feel we can beat anyone at the moment.”

Molesey vs Carshalton Athletic is on Friday 8th December (kick-off 7.45pm).
