Squad update

We sadly had to let striker Omar Koroma go back to parent club Dulwich Hamlet today.

We had hoped to keep him a for longer period of time but Hamlet need him back in their ranks and so exercised their right to call him back.

Omar hit five goals in three matches for us and we wish him all the best - maybe he'll be back in red one day!

Next up for the first-team is a home game against visiting Cray Wanderers on Saturday 2nd December (kick-off 3pm).

Match report - Walton Casuals (h)

We had to come from behind to register a sixth win on the spin as we beat Walton Casuals 2-1, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

Team news
Goalkeeper Alex Kozakis made his first appearance of the season and Raheem Sterling-Parker replaced Ryan Healy. Ex-Robin Youseff Bamba lined up for the visitors.

Kick-off
It was the returning Bamba that had the first shot in anger as, on two minutes, he cut in from the right before thrashing an effort way off target from 20 yards.

During a bright opening by both sides, it was our boys that created two good chances within the space of two minutes - firstly, after he won a Jordan Cheadle throw on the far side, Mickel Miller's low cross found Ricky Korboa whom forced Denzel Gerrar into a smart save.

Then Miller tried himself - a buccaneering run saw him slalom past three blue shirts into their box but his angled left-footed drive flew just wide of the far post.

Casuals' top scorer Joe Kelly went in heavily on Tommy Bradford just before the half hour and both men remained on the deck for a while. Kelly was subsequently booked for his reckless challenge while being substituted with his own injury; Bradford was ok to carry on after treatment.

The game ebb back and forth but Omar Koroma and Raheem Sterling-Parker weren't getting much joy against the two Casuals centre backs, while our own backline was holding firm against the patient attacks by our visitors.

But we suffered a blow six minutes before the break as Coleman got on a loose ball about 35 yards from goal before looking up and hit a speculative effort that flew over the back-pedalling Kozakis and underneath the crossbar.

HALF-TIME: 0 - 1

Both sides continued to press forward after the break - Korboa thrashed a shot from distance over the bar early on, while Coleman fired in a 20-yard free kick which was parried away by Kozakis.

Casuals won three corners in quick succession around 55 minutes but we held firm, although our two strikers continued to cut forlorn figures as our mounted attacks were often disrupted by the Casuals backline.

But that all changed in the 68th minute - Sterling-Parker made a burst down the left flank and took down a forward pass. Baldwin halted his initial attempt to cross but his second found Koroma between two defenders and his header beat Gerrar from 10 yards.

Peter Adeniyi came on for our goalscorer and, just five minutes later, he made a real impact. He flicked a neat pass into the overlapping Bobby Price whom streaked away before pulling a low cross back to the unmarked Korboa whom simply side-footed home from six yards.

And we came close again with 10 minutes to go as Tommy Bradford fed a forward pass into Miller whom spun and unleashed a firm shot which Gerrar parried out. Korboa had kept running and seemed to have a tap-in awaiting him but a last-ditch tackle.

But we saw out the rest of the game to register a sixth win on the spin and go seven unbeaten overall.

Match report - Thamesmead Town (a)

We came from behind twice to win 3-2 at Princes Park, and that includes a saved penalty and 18-year old midfielder Reece Cave donning the gloves for an hour, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

Team news
Kalvin Morath-Gibbs, following injury, made his first start in two months while Bobby Price and Omar Koroma returned to the starting line-up. Ex-Robin Paul Vines led the line for our hosts.

Kick-off
We got off to a poor start in this one as, on 10 minutes, Town won a free kick level with our 18 yard line and Richard Pacquette rose between two red shirts to head in the delivery.

The home side continued on the front foot with Pacquette, from an almost similar situation, side-footing a free volley over the bar and Vines driving wide from inside our area.

We then suffered a blow as Billy Bishop slipped while taking a goal kick and injured his back. He left the field of play on a stretcher and it was decided that, in lieu of a sub goalkeeper, young Cave would pull on the number one jersey.

Conversely, this coincided with us getting a hold in the game as Tommy Bradford fired an angled drive wide across Lewis Carey's goal and Jordan Cheadle had a 30-yard thunderbolt chalked off to a dubious offside decision (the ball did seem to take the slightest nick off Koroma whom was running across the area but he appeared at least level with everyone else).

Cave was called into action a couple of minutes later as he came amongst a forest of bodies to punch a cross away, only for Danny Dudley to be on hand to clear a lofted return from 20 yards practically off his own line.

But, deep into added time, we did restore parity as Mickel Miller took on Mendy down the right before cutting in on his left foot and beating Carey at his near post.

HALF-TIME: 1 - 1

We began the second-half very positively and, after Ricky Korboa saw a shot slam off a post, another attack a few minutes later saw Miller bundled over by McIntyre inside the box.

Cheadle stepped up to the spot-kick but, although he struck the ball well enough, Carey guessed right and palmed the ball away.

It was a blow and, although Cave hadn't been seriously tested since the break, he was caught out on 65 minutes as Town retook the lead.

A free kick into our box was only half-cleared to Richard Avery and the defender powered a first-time effort from 18 yards that squirmed through Cave's legs and in.

It was a blow but our heads didn't drop, plus Peter Adeniyi threw caution to the wind by bringing on Raheem Sterling-Parker to partner Koroma up top. It proved to be a telling substitution.

The game ebbed back and forth for a while, with Bradford seeing a left-footed effort cannon back off their crossbar and Cave patting down a Vines header on a corner kick, before we restored parity.

Miller neatly played in Sterling-Parker who beat the offside trap to race clear. The angle was narrowing but he squeezed a shot in between Carey and the far post for his 13th of the season.

And, just two minutes later, he turned provided as he got free on the left, floated in a cross and Korboa, who had come from deep, headed the ball beyond Carey and into the back of the net.

And, deep in added time, a cross from the right was only half-cleared by Peter Adeniyi and a man in green guided a header on target but Cave got across to palm the ball away from danger.

Photos and match highlights will be available soon.

Interview - Peter Adeniyi

Player/manager Peter Adeniyi is beaming right now after a bright start to our winter schedule, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

We have registered four wins and a draw during November after a run of form that saw us exit the FA Cup and earn only six out of a possible 18 league points last month.

Those results have catapulted us back into fifth place in the Bostik South, and progress in the Surrey Senior Cup, ahead of a tough trip to mid-table outfit Thamesmead Town this Saturday.

“We had a two week break ahead of our trip to Whyteleafe at the start of the month, so I treated it like a mini-pre-season, smiled Adeniyi.

“We had the boys running a lot but we also worked on some things which we are now benefitting from. I’m pleased with every single one of the players – they are improving with every game.”

Adeniyi has also added some new faces to the squad, including four-goal debutant striker Omar Koroma, defender Mohammed-Idris Oshilaja and midfielder Ross Elsom, and he feels they have all slotted in well.

“I’m satisfied with the current strength of the squad and happy (chairman) Paul Dipre has backed me in terms of recruitment,” he explained.

“Omar has played at a high level and gelled with everyone at his first training session, so he gave me no choice but to start him at Hythe.

“Michael Aziaya is another who understood what we wanted and has become the type of player I’ve wanted to sign since becoming a manager here last season.

“Plus, we have the likes of Kalvin Morath-Gibbs and Paris Hamilton-Downes making their way back from injury.”

Adeniyi and his troops go to Thamesmead Town (who play at Dartford FC) on Saturday 25th November, kick-off 3pm.

Match summary - Egham Town (Surrey Senior Cup - h)

We made it four wins on the bounce as we hit Egham Town for six in the first round of the Surrey Senior Cup, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

Team news
New midfielder Ross Elsom was handed a full debut, along with defender Dereece Thompson. Raheem Sterling-Parker and Ryan Healy returned and youth product Charlie Alexiou was given a chance to impress.

We took the lead after 17 minutes as Sterling-Parker teed up Tommy Bradford for his fourth of the season and went into the break two-up after Matt Stockill put Mickel Miller's cross into his own net.

Then Miller got in on the act as he plundered the first of his eventual hat-trick three minutes after the restart.

But Egham rallied as Liam Tuck reduced the deficit on 54 minutes before Brendan Matthew converted a spot-kick just before the hour.

We rediscovered our composure and Miller fired a six-minute double, including tucking away the rebound on a saved Sterling-Parker penalty, to give us a commanding 5-2 lead with 18 minutes left.

And Jordan Cheadle put the gloss on the result with a 30 yard free kick in added time.

Match summary - Hythe Town (a)

We made it three wins on the spin as a dream debut for our new striker saw us ease past Hythe Town, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

Team news
New signing Omar Koroma came in as Raheem Sterling-Parker was suspended, while Ryan Healy replaced Peter Adeniyi in the only changes from Monday's win over Chipstead.

Kick-off
And it didn't take long for our new man to make an impact as, on 15 minutes, Ricky Korboa's defence-splitting pass got Mickel Miller in on goal and Koroma bundled home the unselfish square ball from six yards.

Our goalscorer almost turned provider minutes later as he latched onto Mohammed-Idris Oshilaja's long pass out of defence. He turned his man in the box and Korboa, whom had run in support, unleashed a first-time strike parried by Godman.

Godman was called into action again before the break as Michael Aziaya won possession inside our half before striding over halfway. He eventually threaded a pass into Miller but the home keeper blocked his shot over.

We almost made it two before the break as Koroma lunged in on an inswinging cross by Bradford but the ball cannoned back off the crossbar.

But there was some late drama before the break as Bradford looked to break onto a loose ball 30 yards from goal, only for Dickenson to come in with a high lunge. The referee had no hesitation in sending the defender off.

HALF-TIME: 0 - 1

The first chance of the second-half fell to Johnson-Palmer but Billy Bishop acrobatically palmed his close range header up in the air before smothering the rebound.

But we doubled our lead just before the hour as Town tried to play out from the back and Miller stole the ball. He stood up a cross to the back post where an unmarked Koroma side-footed a volley past Godman.

Two free kicks for Town gave them chances to put pressure on us but Bishop was in good form this day - he dealt with the first by punching the ball out, then he dove across to keep a header on the second delivery sneaking in at the far post.

We could've made it three with 20 minutes left but Korboa guided Bobby Price's low cross over the bar from about four yards.

Then, on a counter-attack a few minutes later, Koroma pulled out wide and played a through ball to get Miller a glimpse of goal, but Godman stretched out a leg to divert the shot off target.

But we did extend our lead with 10 minutes to go as Bradford got Koroma one-on-one in the home box and he curled the ball around both his marker and Godman to seal a debut hat-trick.

He wasn't done however - just four minutes later a long ball out from the back got Miller beyond the Town defence with the linesman's flag staying down. Koroma was in the middle and he dinked the incoming cross over the oncoming Godman to send our fans into raptures.

Match summary - Chipstead (h)

We completed a league double over our local rivals with a late goal sealing a 2-1 victory, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

Team news
There was only one change from our win at Greenwich Borough with Mickel Miller coming in for Ryan Healy. Ex-Robins Matt Males and Saidou Khan were in the Chipstead starting eleven.

Kick-off
And Miller was straight in on the action as, after picking up a pass from Ricky Korboa, he got Bobby Price free on the right. His pinpoint cross picked out an unmarked Raheem Starling-Parker but our top scorer guided a header off-target from close range.

And our returning forward threaded a through ball that would've had Sterling-Parker in on goal just a minute later, but a timely sliding clearance by Callum Maclean curtailed the move.

Our visitors' first chance came on 13 minutes as Sam Bell managed to get free inside our box but he headed Chris O'Flaherty's cross straight at Billy Bishop.

We continued to drive forward however - Miller struck the near post with an angled shot on 18 minutes, while Jordan Cheadle saw a 20 yard shot deflected just off target with Michael Sibley sprawling.

A lovely cross-field pass by Cheadle just after the half-hour found Price in acres of space. Our captain used his forward's runs as decoys before unleashing a firm half volley from distance, but Sibley got himself behind it.

Sterling-Parker's eyes lit up on 39 minutes as he closed down a hesitant Maclean whom allowed himself to be dispossessed 35 yards from goal. Our man bore down on Sibley but the keeper saved his skipper's blushes by getting down low to tip the effort away.

HALF-TIME: 0 - 0

We also began the second-half brightly with Miller and Tommy Bradford both calling Sibley into fairly routine saves.

There was a little warning sign on 53 minutes as Chipstead managed to loft a cross into our box from the left and, again, Bell headed the ball right at a grateful Bishop.

But, just two minutes later, Chipstead broke from the edge of the their box and eventually Erivaldo Felix, who was given far too much time on the right, floated over a ball which was headed in by Dylan Cascoe.

It was a little hard to take but we had failed to turn our dominance into goals before that point, however we got ourselves level 20 minutes later.

We won a corner that Miller whipped in quickly and, having not been picked up coming from deep, Mohammed-Idris Oshilaja headed the ball in for his first-ever goal in Carshalton red.

There was a controversial moment on 82 minutes as Khan went in heavily on Peter Adeniyi - he appeared to go in two-footed and not in control - but, once the dust settled, the referee only booked the midfielder.

But our winner came via a flash of inspiration by Sterling-Parker with four minutes to go. A quickly-taken corner found Bradford whom drilled a low cross into their box and our top scorer cheekily back-heeled the ball inside the far post from six yards.

Post-match interview - Jordan Cheadle

We have overcome a recent inconsistent period to go three unbeaten after victory against Chipstead on Monday night, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

We came from behind to beat one of our local rivals 2-1 and that three points has helped catapult us back into the Bostik South play-off positions.

And defender Jordan Cheadle believes he and his teammates can continue this recent fine form.

"We've addressed some issues but the main one was tightening up at the back," he said after the game.

"We were getting away with conceding in the past because we were outscoring the opposition, but we've not been doing that recently.

"But we've been working on that in training and it's now starting to pay off."

One example of that never-say-die attitude came when we left Chipstead's High Road stadium 4-3 winners last month, but revenge seemed on the cards as Dylan Cascoe gave the Chips a 55th minute lead.

But new signing Mohammed-Idris Oshilaja headed us level 20 minutes later before top scorer Raheem Sterling-Parker cheekily back-heeled the winner with four minutes remaining.

"Mo is a young lad but he has done well since being chucked in against Greenwich last week," said Cheadle.

"He's quick, good in the air and has slotted into our style of play nicely, plus there's others (Kalvin Morath-Gibbs and Paris Hamilton-Downes) to come back and further strengthen our defensive options."

And Cheadle, one of the elder statesmen at Colston Avenue aged just 27, says he is enjoying his time in Robins red despite being in and out the team recently.

"I played around 60 games for Walton Casuals last season and perhaps I was feeling the strain of that a little at the start of this one," he explained.

"But I've been feeling good recently and I'm enjoying my time at Carshalton. It is a squad game but I'm happy with my contribution so far and I'm looking forward to us keeping up this positive form."

Our next match is away at Hythe Town on Saturday 18th November (kick-off 3pm).

Post-match interview - Bobby Price

Captain Bobby Price hopes our most recent result will usher in a new era of consistency at Colston Avenue, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

With the 3-0 defeat in the reverse fixture still fresh from two weeks ago, we travelled to Greenwich Borough on Tuesday and ground out a morale-boosting 2-1 victory.

But our last six results have yielded just seven points and seen us cling on to the coattails of the top six.

“That was a huge result for us because, even though it’s only November, Greenwich were in second and six points ahead of us before kick-off,” said Price.

“Our results have been inconsistent recently so hopefully this will boost our confidence and we are all looking forward to our next game.”

The win didn’t come easy however as Mark Phillips, whom also scored in that match last month, put Greenwich one-up on 16 minutes.

But we went in level at the break as Tommy Bradford won a spot-kick that was converted by striker Raheem Sterling-Parker.

And Sterling-Parker poached his 11th of the season as he tapped home, following good work by Michael Aziaya whom unsettled a tentative Borough defence, on 47 minutes.

But Sterling-Parker’s evening took a sour turn literally 60 seconds later as a second yellow ended his participation, but his teammates then ran themselves ragged to ultimately protect the lead.

"My legs were in bits the next day," smiled Price, "and it was mentally tough too. Once Raheem went, they really stretched us but we all stepped up and worked so hard for the three points.

"I thought both Raheem's bookings were harsh but he also scored our two goals. He has been a great add to the squad this season."

We now have to wait until Monday for our next action as Chipstead come visiting and Price hopes the fans will continue to back the squad.

"The few that made it to Greenwich were loving it, singing loads in the pouring rain, and so that win was for them as much as us," Price added.

"We need to keep giving them things to cheer about so we'll prepare well for Monday's game and look to put in another winning performance."

Our game against Chipstead kicks-off at 7.45pm on Monday 13th November.

Match summary - Greenwich Borough (a)

We recorded a morale-boosting victory away at Greenwich Borough on Tuesday night - but it didn't come easy, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

Team news
New signing Mohammed Idris Oshilaja was handed a full debut, while Peter Adeniyi returned from his injury.

Kick-off
Following the 3-0 defeat in the reverse fixture last month, there was a sense of deja vu after Mark Phillips gave Greenwich the lead on the quarter hour.

But we didn't buckle this time and, in the 36th minute, Tommy Bradford drew a foul from their keeper in the box and Raheem Sterling-Parker converted for his 10th goal of the season.

There was also a melee after Bobby Price was roughly halted on a fine forward run before the break - once the dust had settled, the referee issued six cautions including, crucially, one for our goalscorer.

HALF-TIME: 1 - 1

We took the lead just two minutes after the re-start as, following great work by Michael Aziaya whom unsettled the Borough backline, Sterling-Parker rolled the ball home into an empty net.

But his evening took a sour turn literally 60 seconds later as he tried to close down a clearance and caught his man. The referee deemed that sufficient enough to issue a second yellow and end our striker's participation.

We rolled up our sleeves and defended our lead right until the final whistle, with Billy Bishop also chipping in with several good saves and a late Borough free kick smacking back off the crossbar.
